First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ in Santa Barbara, California is part of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) which is the largest church started on American soil, as "a people of the book(Bible)" with our deepest roots in the New Testament, the Christian Church Disciples of Christ believes that Jesus is The Christ, The Savior of the world and God's own Son, come into the world. Our weekly celebration has changed and we are currently in transition as a congregation connecting with our ongoing group Way Collective that meets Wednesdays for a meal (comunion) and dialogue centered around the path of Jesus in practices and values - where all are invited because although we are Christians, we know we are not the only Christians. We gather together as one body of Christ to glorify God, sharing the good news and nurture one another in spiritual growth.
We are Disciples of Christ, a movement for wholeness in a fragmented world. As part of the one body of Christ, we welcome all to the Lord's Table as God has welcomed us. (Disciples of Christ Statement Of Identity)
OUR MISSION STATEMENT
As members of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Santa Barbara, as a part of the whole people of God, we affirm our mission to be: To love and serve God and love our neighbor; to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ and teach His Word.
Formal Worship is being discontinued starting
August 2019 - our last formal worship service will be
on our 131 st anniversary on July 28th, 2019.
All other activities of First Christian Church will continue.
